My name is Mike Alves, and I've been proudly serving in the United States Army for over 20 years. I'm originally from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and now living in Glen Burnie, Maryland while stationed at Fort Meade. Photography has always been a lifelong hobby for me; one which I will pursue as a professional career after my service in the Army is complete. I currently shoot with a Nikon D700 and have a Nikon D200 as a backup. I have an assortment of lenses; my favorites being the 70-200mm f2.8, and 50mm f1.8.

By serving in the Army, I have met people and been places I never would have otherwise. Our great country has much to see and experience; I continue to take photographs so that I can have lasting memories to share with everyone. My style has always been photojournalistic, and it’s not just military related. In 2009, I earned a Certificate in Professional Photography at the University of South Alabama. I have experience in portrait, wedding, and high school senior photography. I am also skilled in photographing animals, nature, sports and special events.
